How I got my start.
I didn’t consider myself an artist up until 8 years ago.I was in the military when we were introduced to a multitude of opportunities from sports, theater, poetry, music, art, etc. Our superiors took us on a tour of the art room where there was a trove of art supplies, bare canvases, 2d and 3d materials still in wrappers ready and waiting for us to open and use them…there was no teacher, just a room full of potential and they told us to “be free”.
I gravitated towards the canvases and a 1 gallon jug of black paint and I sat and I taught myself how to paint over the course of a few weeks. I was entered into a show shortly after and my soul had been ignited. It was more than a hobby to me, it was a new start and a finding of myself when I never knew I was lost.

Where I see myself in five years.
My goal is to make a difference at a High School that I can call my own. A place where the students trust me and we share in the love and exploration of their new skills and abilities. I want to be that special teacher that students reach out to years later for making an impact. I imagine that will happen by being supportive in a way that is authentic and genuine.
By supporting the person not just the student they are in your class. I wish to be so comfortable in my abilities as a teacher that I can place my energy in improving for the students and investing in them in a way that isnt exactly possible as a newbie.
